The PBC is very proud of its environmental initiatives. We see these as our small contribution to both our local and global neighbourhood.

  • October 2015 - Spring Garden Competition Third Place for Brighton St Verge Gardens (won by members)

  • November 2012 - Marrickville Council ‘Carbon Smart Award’ at the annual Environment Awards for Businesses and Organisations program.
     

  • July 2012 - Runner Up Award in Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Cities ‘Visy’ Waste Minimisation Award.
     

  • November 2011 - Received 'Sustainability Leadership Award' with Marrickville Council's  target sustainability@marrickville program.
     

  • November 2010 - Finalist for ‘Community Partnership Award’ with Marrickville Council’s target sustainability@marrickville program.
     

  • November 2008 - Received Award from Marrickville Council through the target sustainability@marrickville program for achieving ‘20% reduction in WASTE diverted to landfill by June 2008’.
     

  • July 2007 - Won the Highly Commended Award in the Keep Australia Beautiful ClubsNSW Sustainable Clubs Award.

PBC Sustainability Activities  

 

A sustainable program began at the club in September 2006 when members voted for a Board made up entirely of local residents. The club’s sustainable program has strong community support.

The PBC Recycling Program

 

In mid-2007, Petersham Bowling Club started a recycling program that has resulted in an enormous reduction in club waste going to landfill. In 2015, the club moved it's waste services to Organic Recycling Group.
